Together with the UK based NGO Saferworld and Swiss media house Fairpicture Patrick H. Kohl collaborated on three films centered around women in Yemen, South Sudan and Yemen. Together with local creatives and filmmakers three different short docs came to live, featuring interviews and documenting life of local women working for and around the space of creating positive change for their environment.
‘Resourcing Change' is an innovative funding program from Saferworld, Women for Women International and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. The project works with women’s rights organisations (WROs) in Yemen, South Sudan and Nigeria and aims to demonstrate the positive impacts of flexible funding models.
Flexibel funding models challenge the prevailing donor-led model of development. This flexibility grants women’s rights organisations the agency to decide how to use funds so that they can set their own agendas, design their own activities and pursue their own goals.
Nikissi Serumaga (South Sudan), Andrew Esiebo (Nigeria) and Moohialdin Fuad (Yemen) – spoke with some of these women’s rights organisations. They told them about their projects and how they are helping to deliver positive change for women and girls.
Due to our strong commitment to ethics on visual communications we were able to deliver a documentary series that truly amplify the voices and efforts of women's rights organizations. By spotlighting the game-changing impact of innovative financing, these docs do more than just inform – they inspire. Looking ahead, this work could really spark more projects – for Saferworld and its flexible funding model as well as for Fairpicture's goal to co-create together with local storytellers.
